Shabby Framed Burlap Canvas

Hello Friends ...

Sharing a canvas I put together this weekend. I've been wanting to make some shabby chic flowers so when I saw this Framed Canvas I thought it would be perfect for this project. They really were so so simple and easy to do, I just abused my fingertips making them using the hot glue ... all for the love of shabbiness ;) I started out the canvas by using a prima stencil and some paste to cover the back round. I had a beautiful mess going ... shreds of fabric and lace and glue strings, gesso, paint and sandpaper good times!

Here is my Canvas

I coated the frame with gesso, painted it with some craft paint and then roughed it up to distress. I treated the Dusty Attic chipboard with gesso and paint lightly and added some lace.

Some close ups and the shabby chic flowers

Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you all are having a lovely relaxing Labor Day weekend!

Layout using ... Prima Butterfly Collection

Hello friends! Sharing a layout I made up yesterday. We just replaced carpet with flooring throughout the main parts of the house and along with that I painted the office which is completely getting converted over to a studio for crafting. One project kind of leads into another and before I knew it I was putting a fresh coat of paint on all the trim before the flooring went in. Finally finished up all the painting and yesterday was dark and rainy so I slipped into my studio to create. I was actually sitting at an old dilapidated card table in there because we have not yet completed everything... lol  That's okay though I'm still deciding what I want and I think we will be making a trip to Ikea soon. Meanwhile my supplies are very unorganized, but I know what is to come so I'm dealing.

I just absolutely loved this new collection from prima and so enjoyed working with it. I have plenty more to work with, so more to come. I created a layout and started it out by just stenciling on the back round of the paper using molding paste and then I misted it with Perfect Pearls Interference Red and Pearl. I knew I wanted to use The Arch Window Chipboard piece from Dusty Attic for this page putting the photo behind it. I used some of the chipboard from the pop out squares from the window and made some bricks.

I made some flower clusters using the beautiful prima flowers from the collection and also added some leaves using Dusty Attic chipboard Leafy Stem. I cut up the stem and added them around the flowers. I covered them with Gesso and then painted them with Distress crackle paint Antique Linen and highlighted the edges with Distress Ink Vintage Photo.

Some more closeups of the page ...

For the bricks I was going for a old beat up look so I covered the chipboard pieces that I cut up with some of the paper, painted the edges with the crackle paint and inked and distressed them. The window was also covered with a coat of Gesso and them I painted it with crackle paint and added in some perfect pearls mixed up with some water and added it on. To finish I covered it in crackle clear distress paint.

Thanks so much for visiting me... have a wonderful weekend!

Shabby Mixed Media Paper Canvas and Chunky Mini Tag Album

Hello Friends ...

Just sharing a couple projects I created this week with the Kaisercraft Blue Bay Collection. The first one is with the frame sheet, I was testing out some canvas techniques on paper. I used the birds on branches and Ornate fence #1 chipboard from my Dusty Attic Collection, vintage buttons, shabby chic treasures, pink paislee mist able flowers. I started by using the Tim Holtz Lace Layering Stencil for the back round, once it dried I misted it with Perfect Pearls Mists biscotti, pearl and green patina. I adhered several pieces of lace just randomly, I painted the chipboard piece and used several different smooch colors and some distress paint. I just cut up a card from the journal card pack and adhered it to the fence.

Next I created a chunky mini tag album using sorted old tags as my base for each tag. I used the journal cards from the collection and papers as well as a ton of Dusty Attic Chipboard for embellishing from my collection. Lots of the mini pieces which work so well for tags.

Here is each of the 4 tags ... For the cover tag I stenciled and misted and inked. I also added some stenciling to the dusty attic chipboard butterfly and mini doves.

For the tags I have used Dusty Attic Chipboard ... Ornate Fence #1, Mini Vine, Butterflies-small, Mini Dove, Mini Coat Hangers, Mini Wire Dress Form, Mini Corner, Door Handle Plates, Picket Fence-small, and Corner Scroll #2.

That's all for now .... Thanks so much for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Friends!! This is my first post in a long while. As most of you know I have been away for quite sometime .... I have missed you all! It's been wonderful to reconnect with a bunch of you ... and I want to thank you all so much for the warm welcomes back via face book. I really appreciated that:)

I have once again started creating .... along with sorting, organizing, replacing, planning, searching, and trying to get caught up on what is happening in the scrapping world. Oh and a little shopping too:) I also have been trying to do some updating on my blog which I'm still working at. I'm waiting for some things that I have ordered to arrive, that I have some planned out projects for. In the meantime I'm getting impatient, so I have pulled some things from my stash and created a layout. I was playing around with my daughters canon the other day, and took some pictures of roses. I definitely need practice but it was so fun having the camera in hand. I decided to scrap one of those photos. Those who know me, know I adore roses .... real, fake anything printed. Roses really do inspire me. I'm going to share a layout I made up with the photo. It's been a longtime... I enjoyed every minute of it!

On the back round I inked, stamped, stenciled and painted. Created some layering and used the lovely Dusty Attic chipboard pieces to embellish. I just typed up a little title on transparency paper.  So here are some close ups of the page.

The stenciling with molding paste was so fun ....

And the birdie cage

Thanks so much for visiting my lonely blog. And again thanks so much for the warm hello's and welcomes ... I truly appreciate it!

Dusty Attic is Sponsoring TCR

Hello everyone! I loved this weeks color palette #84 from TCR. For the month of November Dusty Attic is sponsoring The Color Room, so I have made up a layout using the color palette and Dusty Attic chippies. I simply painted the Leafy Stems and Mini Shells with a white paint dabbler, the Mini Shells were covered in distress stickles.

Thanks so much for looking! Have a wonderful weekend!!
